Person centred, meaningful and part of everyday life

Our Approach to Wellbeing

At Ashberry Healthcare, wellbeing is not simply something we schedule. It is part of everyday life in our homes. We believe that moving into a care home should never mean giving up the things that bring joy, purpose and connection. Instead, it should open the door to new experiences, friendships and opportunities to continue living a full and meaningful life. Every resident is unique, with their own interests, routines and memories. From the moment someone joins us, we take time to understand what matters most to them through conversations, life story work and getting to know their preferences.

This allows us to create a personalised wellbeing approach for each individual. Rather than following a rigid schedule, daily life is shaped around residents’ interests, whether that is gardening, music, social activities or quiet time. At Ashberry, wellbeing is a shared responsibility. From carers and nurses to housekeeping and maintenance teams, everyone plays a part in creating a warm and supportive environment. Whether someone enjoys a busy day or a quieter pace, our role is simple.  To support every resident to live well, feel valued and continue enjoying life.

Meet Our Wellbeing Teams

Each Ashberry home has a dedicated Wellbeing Team focused on helping residents live joyful, meaningful lives. Our Wellbeing Coordinators work closely with our Resident Experience Manager to create engaging experiences, develop new initiatives and ensure the voices of residents remain at the centre of everything we do. While activities and events are part of the role, wellbeing at Ashberry goes far beyond a schedule. Our teams focus on meaningful engagement, personal connections and creating moments that make residents feel valued, comfortable and at home.

They take time to understand each resident’s personality, interests and life story so experiences can be shaped around what truly matters to them. Our wellbeing teams regularly collaborate across Ashberry homes to share ideas, discuss what residents have enjoyed most and develop new initiatives together. This shared approach helps ensure wellbeing across our homes continues to evolve and improve. Most importantly, wellbeing is not limited to one team. At Ashberry, every member of staff plays a part in creating positive daily experiences for residents, from carers and kitchen staff to maintenance and management. Wellbeing does not stop when a coordinator finishes their shift. It is something the whole team contributes to every day.
