At Ashberry Healthcare, we believe in creating opportunities that enrich the lives of our residents - not just through care, but through connection, purpose and joy. As part of this commitment, we are proud to introduce The Wishing Tree initiative, a heartfelt way for residents to share their hopes, wishes and little dreams.
Through this initiative, residents are encouraged to write down their wishes and place them into our dedicated wish jar. These wishes may range from simple pleasures to long-held dreams - each one unique and deeply personal. Throughout the year, our teams work thoughtfully to make as many of these wishes come true as possible.
When a wish is granted, it is added to our Wishing Tree display, where it becomes part of a growing celebration of the wonderful moments we’ve shared as a community.

We are delighted to share just a few of the wishes we’ve already made come true:
- At Engelberg Care Home in Wolverhampton, Doreen fulfilled her wish to visit her family in Gloucester for her 99th birthday party. Our wellbeing coordinator Karyn and Home Manager Daniel drove Doreen for the 2 hour journey. She had a fantastic day surrounded by people who love her.
- At Allt Y Mynydd Nursing Home in Carmarthenshire, residents enjoyed a visit from the Llanybydder Tractor Run, a nostalgic and uplifting experience that brought smiles all around. We’re also looking forward to welcoming a classic car club, another highly anticipated wish from several of our residents.
- At Meadowview Care Home in Warrington, residents Alma and Irene requested a ‘girly’ day out - and their wish was granted with a delightful afternoon tea outing.
The Wishing Tree stands as a symbol of our dedication to person-centred care - where every resident is heard, valued and celebrated. These special moments, big or small, are what make life in our homes so meaningful.
We look forward to seeing our Wishing Trees grow and to continuing to create moments of happiness, fulfilment and surprise for those we have the privilege to care for.
