We're delighted to share that Blaenos House in Llandovery has been rated Good in all four areas by Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) following its inspection on 24 August 2026.
The four areas are:
- Well-being: Good
- Care & Support: Good
- Environment: Good
- Leadership & Management: Good
CIW also found no areas for improvement and issued no priority action notices. That's a fantastic result and a real credit to everyone at the home.
"It feels like home from home"
The inspectors saw many caring and compassionate moments between residents and staff. They noted that residents have choice and control over their day, from when they get up and what they wear to how they spend their time.
Families were just as positive. Relatives told the inspectors, "The care has exceeded my expectation, they are excellent" and "It feels like home from home". Another said their loved one is "very happy at the home, he likes the view from the lounge and gets along with the people he lives with".
A home that supports independence
CIW described Blaenos House as clean, comfortable and welcoming, with spacious personalised bedrooms and a café-style dining area that makes mealtimes more sociable. The newly renovated patio also got a mention for giving residents a safe space to enjoy the outdoors. The home holds a 5 (Very Good) food hygiene rating too.
Residents enjoy a varied activities programme, visits from a massage therapist and technology such as music systems and interactive screens. The report also recognised the team's work to promote the Welsh language and culture, with Welsh-speaking staff on hand for residents who prefer it.
A supportive, settled team
The inspectors found a stable and experienced team with a positive culture. Staff described managers as approachable, with one saying, "I feel supported and the manager is approachable". Relatives agreed: "The managers are easy to talk to, I never feel awkward going to talk to them."
Amie Porter, Home Manager, Blaenos House
"I couldn’t be prouder of our incredible team following our recent CIW inspection. This result means so much to us because it reflects the hard work, dedication and genuine commitment our team puts into providing the best possible care and support to the residents who live with us. A CIW inspection is an important opportunity to reflect on what we do well, recognise the areas where we can continue to grow, and most importantly, ensure that the people we care for remain at the heart of everything we do. This achievement belongs to every member of our team.
"Thank you for your compassion, professionalism, resilience and for the difference you make every single day. I am incredibly proud of you all. Well done, team, this is something we should all be very proud of"
A huge well done to the whole Blaenos House team. This rating reflects the care, kindness and dedication you show residents and their families every day.
