Blaenos House Nursing Home has built a strong community partnership in 2026 with its chosen Charity of the Year, the Llandovery Rotary Club.
Llandovery Rotary Club is a long-standing, community-focused organisation made up of volunteers of all ages who work tirelessly to support good causes in the local area. Their efforts range from helping young and elderly people locally to supporting national and international charitable causes, and in recent years the Club has donated tens of thousands of pounds to initiatives across the region. At Ashberry Healthcare, we're committed to supporting the communities around our homes and partnering with local charities that make a real difference, and for Blaenos House, located in the heart of Llandovery, supporting the Rotary Club felt like a natural and meaningful choice.
Blaenos House shared why they chose the Rotary Club:
"Supporting the Llandovery Rotary Club felt like a natural and meaningful choice. They're a long-standing, community-focused organisation, and their efforts range from helping young and elderly people locally to supporting national and international charitable causes."
Earlier in the year, Tim, the Rotary Club's President, presented Adrian Cizmas, Deputy Manager at Blaenos House, with the Vice Presidency, marking the start of a fantastic year of service, friendship and shared commitment to the community.
Adrian said of the partnership:
"It's been a real honour to become Vice President of the Llandovery Rotary Club this year. Seeing our residents, families and staff come together to support such a dedicated group of volunteers has been wonderful and we can't wait to do even more together."

The partnership has also been marked by a series of special moments throughout the year. The Rotary Club kindly arranged for a wonderful floral display to be delivered to the home, created by the talented Susan Thomas to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the local Cottage Hospital.
The Mayor and members of the Rotary Club later joined Blaenos House's staff awards ceremony, speaking to residents and staff about the work the Club does in the community and thanking Adrian, Vice President, and Ivy for choosing them as their charity of choice. President Tim spoke warmly about what the nomination meant to the Club:
"Thank you very much for actually nominating our charity account. Usually we have to go out and work for the money and then we give it away. So it's very, very nice that somebody is giving money into our charity account."
At the ceremony, Ashberry Healthcare was also delighted to announce a donation of £500 to the Llandovery Rotary Club, helping bring the total raised for their charity of the year to £600.
The home also brought residents, families and staff together in a friendly Bake Off competition against Allt Y Mynydd Nursing Home, with judges Helen from The New White Lion, along with former Blaenos staff members Shari and Kim, kindly giving up their time to judge. Blaenos claimed a clean sweep of the results, with proceeds from the event going towards the charity of the year and the resident fund.
Blaenos House's relationship with Llandovery Rotary Club continues to grow, with more opportunities planned for residents and the community to get involved throughout the rest of 2026.
