Stepping Back to The 50's: Themed Dining Initiative

Our homes are taking part in our new Ashberry Healthcare’s Themed Dining initiative, where every month we bring a new theme to life for our residents to enjoy. August's theme was a Retro 50’s Diner. It was a massive success.

The initiative gives both residents and care teams something special to look forward to. From preparing delicious dishes inspired by different cultures, hanging and placing decorations that transform the dining rooms, every detail helps bring the theme to life. The fun continues with costumes, wigs, and accessories, making the experience even more memorable for everyone involved.

Our homes travelled back to the 1950’s! Overnight, dining rooms were completely transformed into vibrant retro diners – decorated with polka dots, chequered tables, and plenty of jukebox tunes to set the mood. Residents and team members fully stepped into the spirit of the era, enjoying all the classic diner favourites: hot dogs, juicy burgers stacked high, and milkshakes topped with whipped cream and cherries. Our residences loved being apart of it and getting involved with vibrant wigs and quircky glasses.

Seeing the smiles and happiness radiate from our residents during the themed dining experience was truly wonderful. The joy was felt in every corner of the room – in the laughter that echoed between friends, the music that got everyone singing and toe-tapping, and the conversations that flowed as memories were shared. For many, the Retro 50’s Diner theme sparked fond memories of the past, favourite songs, and nights with loved ones. For others, it created beautiful new moments to treasure, surrounded by a community that feels like family.

We are excited for the next theme to be revealed and can’t wait to see the incredible transformations that will take place across our homes. Each care home adds its own magical twist to the theme, fun decorations, creative menus, making the experiences in each home unique and one of a kind. All the care teams share enthusiasm to make sure everything is perfect to make unforgettable, lively moments for our residents.
