Chinese New Year Themed Dining | Ashberry Care Homes

Another themed dining event at our homes was a wonderful success, bringing residents and staff together to celebrate Chinese New Year, the Year of the Horse. In Chinese tradition, the Horse represents energy, vitality, and forward movement, qualities that fit perfectly with life in our care homes. Just as the Horse embraces change with confidence, our homes continue to grow, innovate, and create vibrant experiences for our residents. Across our homes, residents and staff enjoyed delicious food, shared laughter, and joined in festive activities.

Allt Y Mynydd Nursing Home

At Allt Y Mynydd, residents and staff marked the occasion with a themed meal, enjoying dishes such as sweet-and-sour chicken balls, vegetable chow mein, and rice. It was a lovely opportunity to come together and enjoy the celebration.

Blaenos House Nursing Home

At Blaenos House, residents enjoyed a fine dining experience. Dawn prepared chicken and vegetable curry noodles, egg fried rice, prawn crackers, and spring rolls, with mango ice cream for dessert. Following the meal, Paul and Mair spent time colouring a Chinese-themed picture, while Sheila added a festive touch by decorating a beautiful plum blossom tree.

Broomy Hill Nursing Home

Residents at Broomy Hill enjoyed sweet and sour chicken with vegetable chow Mein, spring rolls, and prawn crackers. After lunch, they made origami fortune cookies and colourful dancing dragons, enjoying each other’s company in the afternoon.

Engelberg Care Home

At Engelberg, Lee and Darren helped with the day’s activities, and Hannah prepared a meal that was enjoyed by everyone. The celebration gave residents a chance to spend time together and enjoy the festive atmosphere.

Holmer Court Care Home

Holmer Court marked the occasion with a special banquet prepared by Head Cook Bev. Afterwards, residents created their own Chinese dragons, filling the room with bright colours and laughter as they welcomed the new year.

Meadowview care Home

At Meadowview, residents and staff recently came together to celebrate Chinese New Year as part of the home’s monthly themed dining experience. Everyone enjoyed a delicious Chinese-inspired lunch, complete with fortune cookies, creating a warm and sociable atmosphere. The celebrations continued into the afternoon with a lively choir practice, where residents sang proudly alongside musical instruments, creating a truly uplifting experience. The day was filled with joy, connection, and a few emotional moments, highlighting the importance of shared activities and the positive impact they have on wellbeing.

Moorhouse Care home

Moorhouse celebrated with beautiful decorations in the dining room. Residents enjoyed a Chinese-themed dinner and special lunch, sharing stories and time together. Red envelopes were handed out, adding extra joy to the day.

The Weir Nursing Home

At The Weir, residents celebrated with a fantastic menu prepared by Dawn, including chicken chow Mein, spring rolls, prawn crackers, egg fried rice, curry sauce, and homemade prawn toast. With help from Zoya and Beth, the meal was enjoyed by all, creating a warm and memorable celebration for everyone.

In all our homes, Chinese New Year has been a happy occasion that brought together residents, staff, and families. With meals, activities, and plenty of smiles, we have created wonderful memories and celebrated the beginning of the Year of the Horse happily.
