Days out are more than just a change of scenery - they are moments of connection, joy and renewed independence for residents across our care homes. Whether it’s exploring a local garden centre, enjoying a pub lunch, or simply sharing a coffee at a favourite café, these trips enrich daily life in powerful ways.
Across our homes, recent outings have shown just how meaningful even the simplest experiences can be.

Meadowview Care Home
At Meadowview, one recent day out began with a Wishing Tree request: a relaxed shopping trip. Residents enjoyed a lovely visit to Marks and Spencer, browsing the aisles, choosing little treats and rounding off the afternoon with coffee and cake. It was a reminder that wishes don’t need to be extravagant to be deeply meaningful - often, it’s familiar places and warm conversation that bring the greatest joy.

Another lovely afternoon included a day in the local community shop, where residents spent time chatting with schoolchildren, greeting regular customers, and welcoming local nursery children delivering Valentine’s cards. What began as a normal Friday quickly turned into a heartwarming celebration of community connection.
Residents also enjoyed an outdoor adventure with a gentle walk and a spot of bird spotting, followed by choosing treats from the nearby shop. The outing was full of fresh air, friendly interactions and the simple joy of being part of the neighbourhood.

Meadowview’s Gentlemen’s Club took a well‑loved trip to the local pub, where three Ashberry wishes were granted for a proper pub lunch and a drink. The gents shared delicious meals, desserts, laughter and storytelling - an important reminder of how valuable it is to create meaningful outings tailored especially for men.

Residents thoroughly enjoyed a community outing to Bold Heath Garden Centre. Angela was especially pleased to have her wish granted to spend more time outdoors. Highlights of the day included the delicious food and the beautiful fish in the aquarium, which captured everyone’s attention.

Engelberg Care Home
Residents at Engelberg have been making the most of local outings, enjoying fresh air, gentle exercise and plenty of conversation.
Ivy, Pat, Harry and Barber recently took a charming stroll to the nearby Clock Tower. The group admired the first blooms of the season - a lovely sign that brighter days are on the way.

Amy and June enjoyed a few peaceful hours shopping before settling down for a relaxing lunch. It was a fantastic opportunity to reminisce, share memories and simply enjoy each other's company.
Some residents choose daily walks as their favourite outing, like Harry, who enjoys regular trips around the area with the well‑being team. And Julie and Harry shared a lovely moment over tea at Crumbles in Compton - proof that the simplest trips can create the warmest memories.

Bob, June, Doreen and Noreen recently saw one of their Ashberry Wishes come true with a memorable afternoon out together. The group enjoyed a special trip to the Grand Theatre in Wolverhampton, where they watched a beautiful performance of Swan Lake. The visit was a wonderful opportunity to experience the magic of live theatre, with the elegance of the ballet, stunning costumes, and captivating music making the afternoon truly special.

Broomy Hill Nursing Home
At Broomy Hill, the changing seasons inspired a visit to the Hereford Garden Centre. With spring around the corner, residents enjoyed exploring the beautiful displays of flowers and plants, sparking excitement about getting back into gardening soon. The outing ended with tea, coffee and cake - a perfect treat after a lovely wander.

Not even the weather could stop residents from enjoying a walk to the local park to deliver the bird feeders they had made. Along the way, they met new friends and watched birds discover the freshly filled feeders.

A visit to the Museum of Cider brought back special memories for resident Wes, who once worked at H. P. Bulmer. Seeing the history of the cider-making process brought his stories to life, turning the outing into an emotional and meaningful experience.
Another visit to the Museum of Cider was enjoyed by John and David, who spent a delightful morning learning interesting facts about cider‑making and sampling some delicious tasters. Their outing was filled with curiosity, conversation and plenty of enjoyment.

Holmer Court Care Home
Residents enjoyed a magical trip to The Courtyard Hereford to watch the pantomime Mother Goose. Before the show, everyone chose their favourite dishes for lunch - fish and chips proving to be the clear favourite. At the interval, delicious ice cream made the perfect treat. The whole day was filled with laughter, excitement and shared joy.

Moorhouse Care Home
We enjoyed a peaceful stroll through the home’s garden, placing out bird food for the feathered visitors who regularly stop by. Though we stayed close to home, the fresh air, gentle movement and quiet time with nature made it a simple but truly lovely way to spend time outdoors.
