Wimbledon Comes to Meadowview Care Home

At Meadowview Care Home, we always look for meaningful ways to bring joy, connection, and a sense of occasion to our residents’ days. This year, we embraced the spirit of Wimbledon in our own special way, blending the charm of a traditional British summer with some creative in-house fun.

Our celebration began with a beautifully presented afternoon tea, complete with buttery shortbread, fresh strawberries and cream, and a cheeky glass of Pimm’s. Residents gathered together in the lounge to watch the tournament on screen, enjoying the lively atmosphere, sharing their thoughts on the matches, and reminiscing about past Wimbledons. The room was filled with warmth, conversation, and a real sense of community.

But the highlight for many came when we swapped centre court for the living room and picked up balloons instead of tennis balls. Residents and team members got stuck into a light-hearted game of balloon tennis, full of laughter, friendly competition, and plenty of cheering from the sidelines.

“It was a brilliant way to bring everyone together,” said Tracy, our Wellbeing Lead. “Wimbledon is such a classic event, and our residents really enjoy getting involved in whatever way they can. The balloon tennis had everyone laughing and moving, and the afternoon tea made it feel like a proper celebration. It’s these small moments that mean the most.”

The day was a wonderful reminder that no matter the setting, it’s possible to create joyful and memorable experiences. Whether it’s sipping a glass of Pimm’s or taking a swing with a balloon, at Meadowview, it’s always about celebrating life together.
