At Meadowview Care Home, we believe that great care goes beyond meeting physical needs - it means nurturing joy, curiosity and connection every single day. That's why we're thrilled to be trialling virtual reality headsets from Recreo VR with our residents.
Bringing the World to Our Residents
Having already seen the positive impact of Recreo VR at Broomy Hill Nursing Home, we were keen to bring the same experience to Meadowview. Our residents have gone somewhere new every time they've put on a headset. They've roamed the countryside, come face to face with elephants and alpacas, explored the wonders of an aquarium, and even paid a visit to the London Army Hospital.
The range of experiences on offer through Recreo VR is one of the things that makes it so well-suited to care home settings. Whether a resident is drawn to nature, animals, history, or a place they once knew, there's something meaningful waiting for them.

Reactions That Speak for Themselves
From the very first session, the response from our residents has been genuinely heartwarming. Smiles, laughter and wide-eyed wonder - the headsets have prompted an outpouring of engagement that has extended well beyond the sessions themselves.
Perhaps most tellingly, the experiences have sparked rich conversations - residents sharing recollections, swapping observations and asking questions. That kind of spontaneous connection is what person-centred care looks like in practice.
More Than an Activity
At Meadowview, we're always looking for thoughtful ways to support the wellbeing and quality of life of the people in our care. Virtual reality isn't just something different to do - it's a tool for stimulating the senses, evoking happy memories and opening up new topics for residents and staff to explore together.
For residents who may find it harder to get out and about, being able to encounter wildlife up close or visit iconic locations from the comfort of their chair is something truly special.
