On Saturday 2nd August, The Weir Nursing Home came alive with music, laughter, and a wonderful sense of community as we hosted our Summer Fair. From 1pm to 4pm, our garden buzzed with activity, bringing together residents, families, friends, and neighbours for an afternoon of pure joy.

The theme this year was “Farmer Chic”, and our guests did not disappoint – cowboy boots, wide-brim hats, and denim were out in full force! The theme held a special place in our hearts, as many of our residents once worked on farms, making the day feel extra meaningful.
The afternoon included a fantastic live singer, a sizzling BBQ with plenty of refreshments, an exciting raffle with generous prizes, fun games and entertainment for all ages, and stalls run by wonderful local traders. Our very own resident Sheila proudly sold her beautiful artwork, impressing everyone with her talent.

A huge thank you goes to Chris, Marvin, Megan, Dawn, Zoya, Chloe, and Michelle for their hard work and dedication in making the day so special. We are also deeply grateful to all who donated raffle prizes and to the stall holders who generously gave their time.
Thanks to everyone’s support, we raised £139 for our Residents’ Fund – money that will go towards more activities, treats, and special moments for those living here.
One attendee summed it up perfectly:
"Great day, cannot wait till the next one – thank you all, amazing place!"
It truly was a day to remember, and we’re already looking forward to the next Summer Fair.
