At Ashberry Healthcare, our nine homes are led by some of the most experienced and dedicated people in the care sector. Between them, our Home Managers bring hundreds of years of combined experience - as nurses, care assistants, dementia specialists and everything in between. This Carers Week, we want to introduce them properly.
Allt-Y-Mynydd Nursing Home

Jessica is a qualified nurse with more than 14 years of experience across both medical and social care settings. That breadth of background - clinical and community - gives her a rounded understanding of what residents need, not just medically but as whole people. She leads the team at Allt-Y-Mynydd with a focus on empathy and dignity, and is proud of the dedication her team brings to work every day.
Blaenos House Nursing Home

Having started her career as a carer, Amie has spent almost two decades in care - a career she describes not as a job but as a vocation. Her dedication has been formally recognised: she was awarded Welsh Businesswoman of the Year in 2018, a distinction that reflects both her professional drive and the standard she holds herself to. Having been with Ashberry for over ten years, Amie considers the residents and team at Blaenos House an extension of her own family - and leads with exactly that warmth and commitment.
Broomy Hill Nursing Home

With over 25 years as a qualified general nurse, the journey to Broomy Hill has taken in district nursing, advanced practice, GP surgeries and urgent care - a career path that has given her a genuinely wide-angle view of healthcare. Her particular passion is dementia care and the quality of life of older adults. Since joining Ashberry in August 2023, she has spoken of feeling proud to be part of the team - and her instinct, even as a manager, is to step away from the desk and work directly alongside her staff.
Brockworth House Nursing Home

Sinead's career in care spans more than 20 years, beginning as a care assistant before qualifying as a nurse and developing a specialism in dementia care. She is a passionate mentor - someone who invests in her team's growth as much as in the residents' wellbeing - and her leadership style is deliberately hands-on. At Brockworth House, she has worked to build what she calls a "family home" atmosphere: warm, fun and built on a strong sense of belonging. One of her proudest career moments was achieving five consecutive "Good" CQC ratings in her first management role.
Engelberg Care Home

Sally's story at Engelberg is one of Ashberry's best examples of what a career in care can look like. She joined the home over seven years ago as a Senior Carer, progressed to Deputy Manager, and now leads the home she has built her career in. That journey gives her a perspective few managers have - she knows the home from the ground up, and she leads with the same hands-on, supportive approach she valued when she was starting out. Sally's focus is person-centred care: every resident treated with dignity, respect and genuine warmth. She believes Engelberg's greatest asset is its atmosphere - and she works hard to protect it.
Holmer Court Care Home

Claire has dedicated more than 20 years of her career to caring for others - and that commitment has not gone unnoticed. She has been nominated three consecutive times for National Hereford Woman of the Year, a recognition that speaks to both her professional reputation and her standing in the local community. At Holmer Court, Claire's philosophy is straightforward: the residents are family. The care she and her team provide reflects that - personal, attentive and offered with genuine empathy throughout every resident's stay.
Meadowview Care Home

Chris brings 27 years of experience across some of the widest range of settings in this cohort - hospitals, day centres, rehabilitation, domiciliary care and care homes. Over the last decade, his focus has narrowed to a specialism he cares about deeply: supporting adults living with dementia. He holds NVQs at Levels 2, 3, and 4 in Health and Social Care and is currently working towards his Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership. Although he has been at Meadowview for a relatively short time, he has already described it as "a truly special place" - and he is committed to bringing as much joy and fulfilment to residents' lives as possible.
Moorhouse Care Home

Julie's career in care stretches back nearly four decades - a journey that has taken her from carer to home manager, regional manager, quality director and consultant, before returning to where her passion truly lies: leading a home. That breadth of experience means she understands care not just from the front line but from every level of an organisation. At Moorhouse, she is clear-eyed about what she has found: an outstanding team, wholly dedicated to person-centred care. For Julie, the privilege of the role is twofold - supporting residents, and leading the staff who make that care possible every day.
The Weir Nursing Home

Having started her career as a receptionist, Amy brings a specific and valuable perspective to her role at The Weir: before becoming Home Manager, she worked across multiple Ashberry homes in a wellbeing-focused capacity, developing a system-wide understanding of what good care looks and feels like in practice. That experience shapes everything about how she leads - collaboratively, with a hands-on presence, and with a particular focus on ensuring residents feel genuinely at home rather than simply cared for. Amy believes excellent care begins with strong leadership and a culture where staff feel empowered. At The Weir, she is focused on building on the home's strong foundations while keeping dignity, respect and meaningful engagement at the centre of daily life.
Together, our managers bring extraordinary experience, genuine passion and a shared belief that great care starts with great people. We're proud of every one of them - and grateful, this Carers Week and every week, for the work they do.
Whether you're looking for a career in care or a home for a loved one, we'd love to hear from you.
